4-Finger Amputation and Prosthetic Devices

Amputations of all fingers & subsequent cosmetic and functional prosthetic devices

M.T. is a 33-year old right-handed gentleman employed as a machinist who caught his right hand in a grinder while cleaning it at work in October 2008 sustaining degloving amputations of his right index, middle, ring and little fingers accompanied by fractures of the distal radius and ulna and an open dislocation of the thumb metacarpophalangeal joint. The right index finger was amputated at the metacarpophalangeal level and the middle, ring and little fingers at the carpometacarpal joint level. Only the right thumb was salvageable. Completion amputations and soft tissue closure of the hand was performed.  Subsequently, MT was fitted with prosthetic devices for his 4 fingers, both cosmetic and functional prostheses.
