Crush Degloving of Fingers

Roll-over motor vehicle accident with crush-degloving injury to fingers

E.B. is a 22-year-old right-handed woman passenger in a car involved in a roll-over motor vehicle accident in July 2011 who sustained soft tissue avulsion injuries and second degree burns to the right hand. EB suffered an open displaced markedly comminuted fracture of the distal phalanx of her right middle finger with some bone and soft tissue loss along the distal radial aspect, avulsion injury of the soft tissue of the right index, middle and ring fingers and palm as well as second degree friction burns along the dorsal aspect of her right thumb. EB underwent local soft tissue procedures for coverage of the fingers and conservative management of the thumb burns with almost complete functional recovery.
