Degloving Injury of Palm & Digits

Degloving injury of palm & digits

This 38-year-old gentleman sustained an extensive degloving injury to his right palm and digits using an industrial rug-cutting machine. There was complete disruption of both flexor tendons to the index and little fingers in zone 2, lacerations of the neurovascular bundles and sagittal transection of the thumb extending onto the thenar musculature of the hand.

Staged flexor tendon reconstructions, scar contracture releases and soft tissue coverage procedures were performed.

Here is the patient at 18-month follow-up.
